Kelley, congratulations on the new blog AND the new web site for the Olathe Messenger! With all the bad news about newspapers going the way of the dinosaur, I firmly believe there is a strong niche for a local paper like yours that covers local issues, local events and local GOOD news like those Pirates!
ReplyDeleteKeep up the great work - I look forward to every issue of the paper :-)
My husband and I read the Messenger every week. We love it and are glad Olathe has a newspaper now.
ReplyDeleteI sure appreciate receiving the paper copy of the Olathe Messenger...glad to see you are on-line and wish you continued success.

Hi, Kelley!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love your newspaper. I look forward to mine every week. I always read your editorial first, then look for news on the kids I know, like my girl, Kelsi Middleton. I'm so proud of her, and you, for bringing us news, I could burst!
D'Ann
Love your paper but would like to see more old-time history stories.

I was sitting watching the news about the “Financial Crises” and it dawned on me that Olathe has its own “Financial Crises”.
ReplyDeleteThink about it, were paying an Administrator $70,000 a year, I haven’t seen $70,000 worth of anything coming from him, he is good about cozying up to the Mayor, kind of like the reverse of Blair and Sale.
And the biggest PORK spending is the Corn Festival; they lose $30,000 so why not pour more money into it.
Just something to think about when your brain bumps up against your skull next time you cross the railroad crossing on main, or one of the many other poorly maintain roads in town.

Is the town going to refund all tghose fines and costs they collected on the ordinances they didn't legally publish? Also, what about the builders who incurred extra cost because the building code they didn't legally adopt.
ReplyDeleteMatt Bufwack really hit a home run in your latest issue. It's great that we have the Messenger to keep them honest. Loved his article on India. Learned more from it than I did from my college history courses. He's pretty sexy too, for an old geezer
ReplyDeletei just moved here and am wanting to plant a garden is it too early? can anyone give mme some tips to get started.thanks Tami B.
ReplyDeleteI am writing for my Grandma who live in town and does not do computers. She is elderly and does not get around very well. It is hard for her to walk up to the postofice. Why did they take out the postoffice box? Will they bringit back?

Hey kelley, I just wanted you to know that I think you are doing a great job with the messenger, and the webpage turned out great! keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteI was reading the article in the Daily Press about the Culver house that was burned down. Rick Hawk wants the good kids on ball teams to help with the cleanup. I say NO WAY!! Get the 5 little punks and their parents to clean it all up and pay out of their pockets. Maybe then they might learn a little bit. Let's get back to the country values and not just slap their wrists. Please forward to Rick.
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Lifetime Olathean
